The First day
The Storm hit hard and long And when all was said and done We knew something was wrong
But we held only ourselves accountable Pulling ourselves out of the wreckage What we saw was inescapable
The Second Day
The overwhelming feeling was dread Unknown factors seemed to be the answers How many were dead?
Where do we go now? Who will help us? Is it even possible?
The Third day
The local agencies from far and wide poured into our lives They asked for nothing and gave so much Finally our hope arrives
They stood side by side Digging deep in our pride we opened up We had nothing left to hide
The Start of a new day
Mississippi Rising it is well on its way The People of America send so much How will we repay
It will be day by day We are unbeaten and your love and care has caused a stir That will allow us to soar like never before from this storm decay
The Thankful day
So as you read this know from me to you Whether it was a prayer, money, clothes or even a pair shoes It was you America the red, white and blue
That has given us the bounce back in our step To rebuild the faith in our hearts and The extra strength pep
So Thank ya’ll from the coast and once we finish fixing what is broke come home to us and let us show you true southern hospitality

I love your title, and the positive theme of your poem. So many people dwell on what is lost, it's good to see someone who sees what is found.

Thomas this is an extremely well written poem of the true facts. Thanks you so much for sharing your heart with us. I don't have the means of sending material things, but I certainly do have you all in my thoughts and prayers. I wish everyone could see your poem. Hugs, Ethel
By the way, us Southerners do know how to show true Southern Hospitality!!

My support and heart and prayers have been with all of you precious "southern" folks. I love the Gulf coast and will definitely come to visit again...soon.
Hugs to you dear friend and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us here. Your words give me a bigger and certainly better perspective than what I get on the news.
