Almost It was number one fifty and something else, another digit of another submission, another try and even though it seemed to feel right, to have done it, again, at that moment, some months ago, still I think I expected the world’s word play of “thanks much, but your work did not fit…” or some such tango of tangled mien and then, when it came, so many months later… no surprise to me…. so my almost alma mater didn’t want me… almost… Almost, the handwriting therein belying the belly-rot of standard etiquette eloquently, almost it said, and then, some more, in Paul’s hand, please send us more of your work! And the exclamation point skilled my spine. |
