Another star shines brightly in the sky This evening as we lay our weary heads Upon our beds of temporary repose Born out of the harshness of war The old “I survived Guadalcanal Started using my wife’s last name Moved on to comedy And went on to become a huge star” trick. Never quite as famous Always just as good Yet through it all Tennessee Tuxedo did not fail In his quest to keep us crying With tears of laughter From the stupidity of his genius “Go, go gadget funny bone” Wowzers, that was class stuff Where we would sit transfixed week after week Listening to the same old lines And Loving It Don’t tell me the talent is gone (the talent is gone) I asked you not to tell me that So, we’ll raise our glasses Tell our tales And bid you ever lovingly A fond farewell RIP Don Adams 9/25/05 "Sorry about that, Chief" OK, guys, I tried to make this a fitting tribute to the passing of Don Adams (Get Smart, Tennessee Tuxedo, Inspector Gadget, many others), however I think I "missed it by that much". All of the catch phrases used are the property of whomever the heck it was that wrote them, and I thank each and every one of the writers involved for enriching my life. When all is said |
