Mine eyes have seen the night And into it too deep for good I have watched the mere shadows Much longer than I should, And I have seen the creeping While you were sleeping And others weeping Vigil keeping Mine eyes have seen the night.
Mine eyes have seen in the darkness The evil motions that are there I have felt the chill of their evil That they wish and want to share I can not stop them from being I am the only one seeing And I can’t be fleeing Vigil keeping Mine eye have lost their brightness.

Perhaps a lovely sunrise would be of some help, Sir Gloom - Good morning to you and your grand words...

Thanks Nan, But not much in the mood for sunrises Missing those dark rainy days Where the chill of the drops numb the soul And my soul could use a bit of numbing Perhaps I need to return to heavy drinking Not that that ever solved anything But it does reduce the clutter on the wine rack
Thank you, Margherita, Pleased you enjoyed Gloomy writes are what I do best The rest Is but words Gloom is my soul

Thanks LeeJ, I enjoy chili Although mine is somewhat deadly And I cut back on the Arsenic (replaced with Scottish bonnets); but a look toward the sun? my eyes aren’t that strong nor my glasses that dark, but my black curtains protect me well and there are blinds too and bars and well we urban hermits know how to cope always listening to that different drummer

The chill and damp of rain-sodden air will soon return, Sir...
to each their own, and to us?
Good poetry from this sun-ridden morning...

Whoa, D! Sounds like a very bad night(s). But....I have to say, Gloomy guy, perhaps you are not the only one that sees the incideous shadows creeping all over the planet. There are others. You have lived up to the pen name this morning, most certainly! .....jo

Professor, even though this is a "gloomy poem", it is excellent writing. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Ethel
