What is life but… An endless barrage of regret That shatters on our unkempt minds to break resolve with misread signs. A cannonade of unrequited lust Broken bones of longing love smeared and caked in dust. A meaningless deviation of intent That breathes spent life into retreat An old concept to in-built to sleep A discorporate echo in a private room A mental image blurred and bent that seeps and drips within the gloom A half learned pile of ancient decay Dreams of gods, the things they say Guides for inaction and delay What is this life anyway? Triskaidekaphobia, I had to look that one up. I found your poem eloquent and beautiful, envoking painful memories and realities that has been my life's struggle. "What is Life anyway?" My answer would be: Life is love. And what is Love but a well from which we drink all that brings us peace. |
