The Perfect Trap By Paul Wilson Happiness never meant for me I’ve tried but you won’t set me free A touch of force is all you know Tenderness and love never show Sobs and tears never heard or seen Why I wonder are you so mean Touch me again and I will die You smile in victory…I cry This hole is my prison for life All I’ve ever known pain and strife Today’s the day I stop your rage I’ve found strength too unlock the cage My plan is simple wait and see When it’s all done I will be free I’ll lure you in with all my charm I’ll capture you they’ll be no harm There will be no more tears from me After today I will be free Revenge and victory is sweet Now you wallow in your defeat No more cat and mouse games for me This time the mouse will have the key Play your games and remember that This little mouse caught the big cat ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ Paul [This message has been edited by Paul Wilson (08-14-2005 05:21 AM).] |

A heart filled with so much pain is reflected in your words...I find the place you write of very familiar to most of my life...after I found the key I learned how to use it and began to heal by writing out my pain...when the time was right I was ready to share myself again and now both of us hold the key and care for the heart of each other....I pray all goes well for you and your tears help to heal your heart...*big hugs* |

It all sounds attack And when we run out of attacks Who do we attack next How often are people just a vehicle for anger because we know we are stuffed and can't get out and so we take it out on others Acknowledge the wind-up merchants; the trouble makers and that life is from yourself Bodger |

Paul, you have written perfectly the way heartache and the pain of feeling trapped feels. And, then the way someone feels when they've decided not to put up with it anymore!! I've been there before and it is so painful to be treated like that by someone. I've said it lots of times and I really believe it..... the pain and scars from emotional and verbal abuse sometimes last lots longer than the ones of physical abuse. I realize you may have something entirely different in mind but this is what I thought of when I read it. Thanks for sharing with us. Hugs, Ethel |

To all Thanks for reading and for your caring replies. When I started writing this your comments are just what I had in mind. It was gonna be about spousal abuse, but I thought it might be a touchy subject, so I sort of kept the same train of thought but changed the characters to a cat and mouse to give it a little humor. I guess no matter how we change or try too cover up our true feelings they still show through. This is only fictional for me and I hope it doesn't upset anyone...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

been there and got out~ takes a while to get to a nicer place when wounds are deep~ but at least away wounds can start to heal when before they had no chance to heal, and when you find yourself becoming as them, thats when you know its time to go, when nothing works to change anything for better, as one works only against it, making wounds deeper and not allowing changes, get out as fast as you can, i learned the hard way, back and forth, trying to believe the lies when i was out and doing good, so i would go back, then all would be just as before. like i never left. banging my head on a wall would of felt better. i love him still, but something has control over him, shame it comes in a bottle. but i cant do anything, he has to. sorry for going on here, but you got me thinking about him, and i am glad i live in a different town now. nice writing ![]() My spirit will rise |

MGROVES...I apologize if I brought up any bad memories for you. I really hope all is well with you and that situation is a thing of the past. I wanted this poem too be taken light heartedly as being a story about a little mouse turning the tales on a big mean cat, but somehow it turned out being taken as spousal abuse.( Which was my first line of thought, but I didn't want too bring up bad memories for anyone so I changed it to be about a mouse & cat Please forgive me if I didn't make that clear in the final stanza. I really appreciate you taking time too read and for caring, but all is well...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

LeeJ...I really appreciate your caring reply, I can see where this poem might be taken as spousal abuse cause that was my first subject matter but I wanted it to be just a silly poem about a Cat & Mouse and how the mouse was always getting abused by the cat until the mouse caught the cat in his trap. I hope all is well with you and thanks very much for caring and your kind words...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ Paul |

Dixie...Thank you for that tender reply. I hope I didn't mislead you about the subject matter, this is just a silly poem about the little mouse getting the best of the big mean cat. I guess people could take it a couple of different ways. I hope you take it the light hearted way in which it was intended...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

Mr. Paul Wilson, I myself have never experince any form abuse but you my Dear Friend spoke for those who have, never made it out alive. You gave voice to those who are afraid to speak and scared to leave. Why people have to be so hurtful to those they love I'll never know. Wonderful read.Wish there were more people in this world who cares as much as you do. Hugs to you my friend. :-) <^^> Today the pond....Tomorrow the world |

Memories of my first marriage, Paul. I've heard men say before, "nice girls like to be treated mean." That ain't true, nope, it ain't. Revenge, however, not intended was what it almost always leads, too, and when it finally comes, you realize you really didn't want it after all...you just wanted it over so you could get on with your life. Anyhow, I'm rambling, but you can blame your poem for that. ![]() |

Hi Paul, Upon going back for another read, yes, certainly can pick up the humor, of which I thank you for, but don't fret dear poet...what one picks up from poetry, reagardless of the author's intention, can be so wonderfully full of rich therapy, a reminder of a place we shouldn't tread again, or, simply serves as thought provoking to the circumstances in one's life, or, self examination, and so goes, the miraculous world of poetry... ![]() thank you |
