the soldier without a face forgets his savior's mercy as he fastens his gun to his chest- a wretched empty cathedral. he stands like a von braun rocket, fueled to serve the fatherland, as his granite eyes flicker over a woman made crooked by fear. the woman without a name forgives an absent god, as the child still dangling in her arms echoes her lonely battle cries. she sputters like a broken steinway, collapsed by wagner and canticles. her kisses fall on her little one as if lips could bulletproof. with the barrel now at her back, he puts pressure on the trigger. her body sways back and forth between the ghetto and the camp. the gunfire lasts a moment; the soldier leaves his post. a crimson sun sets the stage, and handel's messiah kneels at her grave. her history weaves a burial shroud; there is no one left to say kaddish for the woman who pleaded with death and then rocked her darling to sleep. weaned on propaganda, he sleeps soundly, without suffering the tyranny of shame. and his holy bible lies at his bedside, missing the page that says ‘god is love.’ |

WOW! This is very good work here. It is the little ones who suffer the most. Great job. ~~Dara Beth~~ If everyone would smile, we would have a world of happy people. Just a suggestion. |
