LORD PLEASE FORGIVE ME

I crucified my Lord today
With my sins
Because of your race.
I ripped your skin
With my whip
When you spoke kindness to me
I spit in your face.

My selfish pride, lust and greed
Where the force that
Drove the nails.
I mocked you with a crown
And seated you above everyone.
When I raised the cross
My hatred was the force
Behind the spear.

You kept holding on
Enduring the pain
Just to be with me
A little longer.
And with your last breath
You looked up to the sky
And said “Father please forgive them.”

In disgust I tried to walk away
Bit I saw the bloodstains on my hands.
And I fell to me knees
I cried out “what have I done“.
I looked to the sky
But it had grown black
And filled with fury.
I hung my head in shame
And cowered down the hill.
The days that ensued
Were filled with a haunting guilt.
And when the pain of that guilt
Had became to much
I saw you standing before me
With out stretched arms.

I fell to my knees, crying
LORD PLEASE FORGIVE ME.

a savior that forgives....when repentance is real....
this is real, and yes I am sure you are forgiven...
in Psalms, it says that God wants the sacrifice of a broken spirit....this poem portrays this powerfully
