Mayored Valentine 2005 The day comes and goes with little effort and the pressing of worries awakens the morning pain that either comes with age or that of disappointment, that life has very little to offer, although the gift of smiles was sent my way while waiting for the closing hours. There on that bench, an elderly gentleman, from the inner city who comes out to relax and be fearless of the passersby remembered me (as always) and although rarely do I visit, he is the Mayor of the Bench and knows many, includes many, even if only to say hello. For three hours he kept me laughing, as we swapped stories of our lives (some I have heard before) but always with a touch new added. Others stopped by just to see what was making him so lively (me of course) and some a bit jealous of the attention joined in, asking more of myself than I usually share. They added to my day, making it less of a Valentine neglect and more of a day of sharing, exactly what I hoped for, if all else failed. So to my benchtime valentines, I promise to never let you down, as long as we all remain in good health... And to the sender of those beautiful red roses... the deliverer said: "What a beautiful smile" and that says it all~~ "Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less." |

Well I spent mine in bed doing homework... so a park bench sounds awfully appealing lol I'm glad it wasn't as bad as what it could have been, you had someone to sit with, made people jealous, got flowers, and smiled big. Definitely a good thing. Love the poem... Always, Alyssa He was a man of sorrows |

I am glad your valentines day wasn't a total waste. Sounds like you had a real good time. Me! I just sat here in my house, all alone. |
