‘Tis Warmth Which Earns the Heart of One Beloved

Did this morn feather thee with kisses sweet?
Bequeath thee the favor of lady fair?
Didst thou awaken ‘neath a rumpled sheet?
Or were you but dreaming kisses of air?

Dawdle not by limpid pools of hunger,
Bathe in her waters if thou wouldst be loved,
Ere wantonness is passed to the younger,
‘Tis warmth which earns the heart of one beloved.
