Here, in the lambent light that shines through stained glass windows, the music of silence is very near. The icons in their corners hold no wonders . . . or terrors, I being a man of many crimes. Yet, once there was a girl, in some distant land,. . . who told me of butterflies. Spring is in the fields. Oh you God of hers, before I go, feel an old tiger . . . kneel. |
