Damn It's Happening Again

(and so it starts...)

     Aweful thoughts lurk in the background
   Seeing images that glide across the floor
   Hearing only what I can, what's that sound
      Are they coming to settle a score
               ~~~~~~~~~~
       Scared to close my eyes and sleep
     Exhausted from trying to rid them away
          Tired of the tears I weep
           They are here to stay
               ~~~~~~~~~~
         How did I get broken this way
         No way to fix my damaged mind
         They stay with me all my days
          They will not leave in time
               ~~~~~~~~~~
       I dread the start each sunrise seen
        The horrors as the morn' begins
        Begging wake me from this dream
         Then damn, it happens again.

Thought oft time invade sleep
To sleep perchance to dream
And yet what choice can we keep
That is as easy as closing eyes seem
But closed eyes still cries in sleep
As dream silent voices can still scream
What light through yon window breaks
What difference a morning makes
When sleep and dreams are still calling
Who denies me into dark bed be falling

What's in a dream--
A lesson to be learned
Or a fear to be spurned?
Examine this in the light of day
And move merrily on your way!

Loved this poem. I hate dreams that I cannot wake up from and they just go on and on and on...
