(A friend recently wrote me that he wondered if batting hadn't become the national pasttime in a "different manner". I thought about what he said and just had to throw the idea around.  Forgive the juvenile and sappy writing! Whoops! There I did it again!!! Wham!  Well,here it goes:"

“I hit my head, not the ball
This batting thing just ain’t my call!”
I ain’t real good at sports and stuff,
And my reedin’ and writin’ ain’t up to snuff”

      With patience and truth his teacher said,
      “Charles, you mustn’t bat UPON YOUR HEAD!”

“Kids don’t like me, my speed is slow;
I get lost and that, you know!
And when I walk I drop my gum
Can’t chew and move, I’m so dumb!”

     “Charles, you mustn’t bat upon your head!
      Keep your focus on the –All

      -All the things you’ve done so well,
      The things you’ve cared to share
      -All the creative ideas you’ve brought
      And the courage with which you dare.

      Just remember,
         keep your "I" on the -All."

There's no other explanation...my friend Misc..is a nutbar at times....most times a sensible poet lady, but sometimes......

Thanks, All. THANK YOU, Ratleader! You came to my rescue! I was a little, no--PRETTY EMBARRASSED to post this, but the idea is a big one. I thought by exaggerating the message using humor and by seeing it from a child's point of view that we who we beat ourselves down might better be able to laugh at the fruitless practice.
