Above verdant banks of long blades, one could walk the sky Or climb to swaying bridge to find the other side; As each hand twists ‘round gnarled rope Uneasy toes will probe. To perceive the breeze, the peaceful flow, To seize the stream below To hear the conch shell swishing, then, In calm those steps will go. |

I've always wanted to go across a swaying bridge. This has such a lovely feel about it...the breeze on my face and my toes right here inside my shoes, are feeling this. |

Love the peaceful easy feeling, inspite of your title. This is quite lovely, misce~ |

Martie, Glad you could feel the slight breeze. From the time I began to write this until the time I finished, the breeze became more gentle. Thank you for your thoughtful response. miscellanea Sunshine, Thank you...You know exactly. miscellanea Bluesy, Glad to hear from you again. It might seem calm, but it was the title that led the poem, helping it find solution. Glad you found it lovely. miscellanea |

"To perceive the breeze, the peaceful flow, To seize the stream below To hear the conch shell swishing, then, In calm those steps will go." Yes, indeed. I'm glad to have read this tonight. Thanks. |

With a fear of heights, my toes would definitely be uneasy... but they'd be pushing forward... I've literally crawled to make sure I didn't miss a great view. *G* I like this very much... especially the phrase "one could walk the sky"... with your words, we do. *S* |

I love the flow of this. I find it irresistable and want to find a swaying bridge to pass upon of my own...all the bridges here are firmly attached, as are the poeple. The only danger we have are snowmobiles...though we need no more... Lovely write though! |

I listened to a shell To hear what it might tell or say But it was silent so I tossed it away So from sand to where grass grows The Earth’s way to tickle toes in spring When you can hear the returning birds sing I keep their song and your poem goes along too Till deep snow become warm morning dew Gloom |

Cliff climbing, reminded me of cliff dwelling birds. Pictured Ireland, or cliffs along the shore of Carmel, CA. Or the northeast shoreline. JL |

JL, I'm glad you responded. I was amused when you said Carmel. My father told me once that he and his brothers were there and the strangest thing occurred--a city appeared, a biblical city, hanging over the valley. This must have occurred during the first quarter of the twentieth century I imagine. Thanks for your reflection. It is always good to know the mental flights one's poetry brings to another. miscellanea [This message has been edited by miscellanea (03-02-2005 12:31 PM).] |
