When only one person understands that means much more than every writer feigning comprehension In fact so many are oblivious to anything but immediate surroundings why then simplify poetic statements, undo the quality of ones labour so that it will be equally unread? So I will keep the complexity of my work not simplify it for more hits on a forum after all I am here as a poet not to run in a popularity race. This is what I understand. --> [This message has been edited by ecrivan (02-28-2005 11:50 PM).] |

I totally agree Martin I myself am not one of those complex writers. I just write what I feel, not trying to stun or compete with anyone...I am simple. And sometimes being simple, I cannot understand what the more complex writers are writing. I do make the effort though. |

But Martin, I find that most people think I am writing sad when happy and happy when sad...so interpretation will always be individual..and I do understand the "lack of" response feelings and have learned that it is the enjoyment I get from expressing myself rather than numbers. Besides I enjoy reading and learning about others through their words as much as writing my own. I for one have led a pretty "sheltered" contented small town life for 30 years working from home, leaving me with a lack of experience in understanding some of what others write about. Many times I wait to read what others think first to see if I am on the right track. hugs M |

Martin, your writings always make me sit back and ponder. Do I always understand them ? No.....but they still get my attention...lol. Well done. Chris Love can sometimes be magic. But magic can sometimes... just be an illusion. |

Maureen I'm with you on not being understood. At least getting read and stimulating interest is the part of the trip. This is why I'm here. Dixie I liked Steinbeck's books like The Pearl because the language was simple enough, it was the mental image that made the difference. Chris, Many do ponder; that gives me great joy [This message has been edited by ecrivan (03-01-2005 12:05 AM).] |

I was yellin' this last week! Yellin' it! It's a wonderful boost to get a lot of responses, and a downer when things tumble....but really, if you write the best you know how....what else matters? ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

That's right, do what you do naturally...kind of like when I do my art I'm not looking to fit any 'current' trend necessarily, I know what I do is contemporary but that's because of the titles we tend to give...thanks for sharing and who cares when the responses are low or not, what's important is that it does touch somebody! Opoetry4me, Thanks for sharing too! |

The most joy I find in writing, is the writing itself. The responses are nice, but the writing and expressing myself is even nicer. I understand this... |
