Ragged winter wings of black, hung over the orchard. She walked past bony skelletal trees. Down her back, jet hair streamed, into the tree a raven flew. ''Why do you fly to me bird of sorcery?'' ''I came bringing news lady''. ''Tell me all then''. She said ''Let me a little blood take from you''. Thrusting a thorn into her thumb, he lapped. ''Beyond these walls, a wood arcane and magic lies''. He said. ''He lies wounded there''. ''Whom lies there?'' she replied. ''The elf prince of these lands''. He said ''Any woman who saves him shall be his bride imortal''. ''Where is he exactly kind raven?'' She said. ''I will tell you, when you make a promise'' ''What promise?'' said she. ''Swear on your hair so black and sleek, that you will take me with you''. ''I swear it, i sweat it''. She said ''A curse will be upon you should you break your promise to me''. ''Sweet bird i will not break it.'' Months passed and the lady did become the imortal wife of the elf prince and lived within his secret castle of magic. One dark day the raven flew from the storm into the castle window of the princess. '' Princess let me in, fulfill your promise'' He said. ''Go away evil black bird''. ''I come to take my place with you''. He said ''Be off sorcerous bird, you cannot harm me''. ''You shall dream of me this eve princess''. He replied Deep into midnights cloak, she dreamed the raven flew in her persuit, stabbing her with it's dagger black bill. Crimson was the blood upon her white pillow, as the sun shone into her fine bed chamber. In her hands, her silky black hair hung in clumps of scarlet. In her mirror her hairless head and face was old and wizened beyond recognition. In a tree the raven conversed with a beautiful lady,''beyond this land lies a arcane woodland''. He spoke. Love comforteth like sunshine after rain. (William Shakespeare.) |

The title caught my eye yesterday... but the wind caught my mood... glad to be able to come back to read. I would take another story, anytime. |
