Daddy’s Girl
By Paul Wilson

Swing me higher daddy you’d say
past the clouds I want too fly
To the other side of the rainbow
higher than the birds in the sky

A dare devil you’ve always been
taking chances with no fear
Never one to wear dresses and bows
still you were Daddy’s little girl dear

Your childhood years passed by so fast
before I knew it you were a teenage girl
We shared special times with each other
as you explored your grown-up world

I made it thru sleepovers with your friends
keeping me up with your silly little games
They were like daughters too me
I still remember all of their names

Driving lessons took their toll on me
as you went swerving down the highway
Not so fast…keep it straight …easy on the break
keep your eyes on the road I’d say

You had me wrapped around your fingers
people use too say to me and you
I had you spoiled that way I’d say
that’s what daddy’s are suppose too do

Seems like only yesterday too me
I walked you down the aisle
You gave your heart too another that day
I kissed you with a tear stained smile

I can still see you swinging in my mind
wanting to go higher than a rainbow
I think about those special times we shared
you will always be Daddy's girl you know

Beautiful poem of loving memories Paul.
They do grow up in the blink of an eye don't they?
~Hugs to you for this keeper, Nancy~

dancing with you in the summer rain~

Paul
A delight to read. It is the same for me.
And each time they go their way, I kiss my life away.

It is very nice to see that there are Daddy's out there that take their relationship with their daughters to heart.
