The gardens grow green in the province of Now with no speck of gold, red, orange, purple, but in this, oh, so easy repose a white lily grows and I sympathize. Between the stealthy creep of the known a soul betwixt monsters of life’s strangling hold confronts the seasons like a front-line soldier faces the wrath of those he can’t know. Above purity the birds gather like saints and are we not all saintly somewhere after creating landscapes of denial and framing a life behind pains of the past? The lily self-willed grows wherever it will as we in dreams commune with the wise and ingest the truth of this lowly life as good and consoling required nourishment. In the silent manner of love still to be known the lily wide-eyed stares into daylight and embraces the land of mortal man until nature decrees it’s time to depart. The lily, white lily, how brave thou art to alone step forth into pastures unknown or is there a hand pulling, guiding, leading, from there where the saintly abide with the wise? Ah, dear Jo - when it's the season, it's the season. What can I say? Hmm? Well, here's to the lily - may it have a good life! Thanks for the read. |

Helen To find inspiration in the lily is a special thing...for you can find it anywhere, if there. I wrote a lily poem a while back, and it continues to be one of my favorites. "and are we not all saintly somewhere" Yes, and I love that question and the obvious answer gleaned from your poem. |

a beautiful poem, Helen even if of a different lily... My neighbor's daughter got married last month and she had white lilies as her bouquet..they were so lovely as are your words. M |
