scratching
in the barnyard dust
fluttering the wings too brief
crowing
sepia
and dawn
remember
mississippi mud
layering the bruise of clay
cutting
like a layered cake
blues and oranges and green
and little things in print of plead
begging to be stone, agreed:

pecking in the dirt for seed
dancing to be heard

and freed

bickering the chickens home,

roosters scream toward the sun;

praying twice the day.

yes, my brilliant poet friend, those good moments in life are brief, and when they leave they certainly can be a cutting edge, but then, perhaps they are in some way a reminder, that they haven't left at all, more so, have found a sacred place in our hearts minds and souls...

hugs hun...love you

You know what is truly amazing about this, Karen?  I saw all of that, right there -BOOM!

And that, is what writing is all about.

I'm a bit late in reading this but am so glad I did.  One day when ... ?? ... I'll learn to write like this.

warmth of egg under nimble touch
feathers sticking to the birth,
a mother's hope
a breakfast broke...
I remember this...

I LOVE eggs hehe

this was great..

reminded me of being little and playing with papa's chickens in the yard, and then crying when he made us eat them

thanks for the childhood memories
