Raph His words set me pacing across the black ringing grate of a late night fire escape, high over some anystreet with no past to escape and no particular future. Passing by that easy desolation, he showed me the harder desolation within; dared me to say where it was born. Taking the dare, I inevitably failed; ineluctably succumbed, inelegantly continued. Now he treads out into the shadows, alone as ever, and I can only watch from this place, high, safe, fervently bleak, because Somehow the grate remains. And if I didn't mean it I wouldn't say it, this is utterly utterly perfect, the poem and the Heart it shows. YOU are an incredible writer, and this shows your quality.
