Walking a high causeway
and looking down,
on endless rows of files

cabinets and among them men
and women opening drawers
taking out and putting in folders.

“What is that?” he inquired of Peter.

These are those
who were accountants
in their lives before . . .
and this is their idea of Heaven. . .

. . .and what did you do
before you were here
if I may be so bold to ask.

“Cheerleader Sleeperwither”
he answered, despite a certain diffidence.

Oh well,
of course then,
I imagine.

“Yes.”
