The consistent
  sound
a puff
      here and
there

The machine
  taking
the air
  from there
to pure oxygen

filling her lungs
  giving
time
  carefully measured
to share

no guarantees
  here
labored love
  life
a moment here
  and
perhaps tomorrow

All those moments
  spent
without a thought
  and now
I'm counting..
