In the absence
of prayer, light
layers its thirst
through the vein
of dry hours, bellflowers
of blood, flood
the baptismal dark
I hold, loosely
under the clothespins of memory,
red sumac mud laden
with your scent, framed
in maimed velvet and bathed
by the rain's abandon,
disarmingly grey, these whispers
darken over my amber skin of cognac
and suede, sways
in the heartbreak cradle
of your hands,
as they beat
the fervent evening,

a lullaby vehemence
burning for release,
blood-wet and limber,
the rock in our fey bodies,
frayed palms
pressed against glass panes,
blacken in the flushed char
of urgent moments,
soothed by the coo
of red cedar limbs,
the violet traces of lifelines
stand bare, as a lullaby of wings
sing through the body,

a blue raven
laden with the cadence
of my death,
takes breath
in the toll of bellflowers,
beating at least four hours
longer than love,
and shoved into the liquid dark
of prayers,

as if
it could be this way,
always.

I loved that and also can not wait for the wee fey to be for sale.

Strange how the absence of prayer, fills us with darkness, and therefore I sometime wonder if it is really there waiting to be summonded, and we need just ask to seek out the light?

Anyway...yada, yada, I loved this m'lady NY.  You do have a way with words I tell ya!

Sharon~~~~

thanks for the vote of confidence (and the edit)....and indeed the absence of prayer can lead to despair...

luckily...I have learned how to breathe...with words...

so much love,
