On Sundays, Some Days Sigh

Wrangle me a week’s end
that doesn’t…
so that on Sunday,
I can dream on those some days,
and sigh…

I could tell reality
to take a hike quite far away,
and taking the alarm
of Monday mornings with it…

to let me stretch in blessed release
while still somewhat young,
fantasize for some moments,
on who I have become;
barter with the devil, while
giving God his due…

yes, wrangle me a weekend,
and I’ll paint skies a cerulean hue…

while scaling mental mountains,
and nibbling on fresh scones,
then brew some thoughts along with leaves
sharing tea with two…alone…

“Where are you,” it is asked,
when pondering deep in such quiet thoughts
that I look and yearn to know myself…
for this feeling is quite lost…

because I know the morrow comes,
chances are one in seven
it will be a Monday…
the alarm will ring, and music spew…

while I would rather live
a Sunday’s some days sigh…
with you.

Karilea, as I read this I was sighing
a relaxing sigh all the way through.
Beautifully penned...absolutely most enjoyable.

When you quit work you will experience 7 days of Sunday sighs - liked this one a lot.  Thank you for your note, also enjoyed that but I will have you know these two girls still stand up on their own.

Sissie

I really would be wonderful if Sunday night we went to sleep and woke to another Sunday morning.  Love the thoughts in this!

Yeah, I felt this one.  I love the Sunday quiet and feel of nothing that has to be done right now.  But Monday looming on the horizon makes me nervous.  I really like the way you use words in this one.

Now, if I could just get two children to
understand Sundays and how precious they can
be ..  well written KJ...I know the feel of
this very well.

M'dear Sun, I do believe you just wrangled me a weekend by poetically painting the skies a cerulean hue!

SIL, this does speak to so much truth and carries the honest touch.....well said.  Yep, me, too....although I shouldn't complain at all as the last couple of years have afforded me much more control over my own time...time to discover.  One of my favorites of yours, I think...it just holds much meaning for me, perhaps.   ....jo
