Don’t ask me why it happens sometimes
that the air has a happiness feel
when I know what’s hidden deep down inside
won’t make the children proud.

Don’t ask me why life isn’t a cure
for the affliction of memory
or why poverty moves up the chart
when love has so much to offer.

Don’t ask me why a face wears a smile
while sighs remain naked and bare
or why the soul builds internal webs
to hold a body just so
in the center and not on the side
of a deepest wish and desire.

Reasons are simply and only the sparks
in the flames of mental demands
to close the door on what’s gone before …
but don’t ask me why it happens sometimes
that “why” always keeps the door open.

Such a mysterious doorstop is “why”
and I stand cold alone in the draft
captured, enraptured, by my memories
until dead to the feel of them all!

hmmmm ...

I am haunted through this to the memories of simple childish voices asking "why" to every little thing from A to Z ....

... some ask all their lives until they find an answer worth resting for ...

                   loved this!

Helen, I am praying that in my lifetime some of these questions will indeed have positive answers.  Who knows the United States has a chance to make a real difference over your way.  Did you watch the interview with Brad Pitt and Diana Sawyer last night?  Very interesting interview about his participation in Africa.  He had some of the very same questions.

This was very interesting. I like it! And I want to move this back to the top so more poeple have a chance to read it.

Thank you all so much for the read.  The questions of youth are easily answered by those perceived to be wiser ... and I want to be young again!

Mysteria - there's more participation in Africa than we are aware of and we, the inhabitants, merely pawns on the board.

Thanks, Windwalker.  I appreciate ... your moves.
