Talking With God |

There is a saying I’ve heard; “if I ever see God, I’ll whip His holy ass” well, I first thought that was a good saying, and I used it a lot when talking to Christians: I just enjoyed seeing their horrified reaction; but the more I think about it, I find it’s not such a great thing to say. Isn’t it just more talk of violence? of some deep-seated hope I can get even? There has to be a better way. I think I would rather talk to God; ask him why he did what he did, or if he did it at all. Ask if the Bible should be taken as the truth, or just another hodge-podge of information from some other time maybe better forgotten? Maybe remind Him that his followers still insist they must carry on the old ways of wiping out non-believing enemies to get their gold (I mean, their oil) as He so carefully instructed Joshua as regards the people of Jericho and all surrounding lands – Yes, that genocidal thing the Hebrews were to do for God at that time. I’m sure if I bring it up diplomatically He won’t turn me into a toadstool. I’m not so sure He’ll be willing to listen however... Sad. |

You would rather talk to God? That's what you have done here ... your every word is given attention, I am sure. quote: And you wonder if He listens? We are searching souls ... and He knows. Love, Margherita |

How interesting. On the one hand you question the existence of God and then on the other, you imagine that should He exist that he will meet you on your own terms? You are right though, that His followers are not the best measure of His existence as many are misguided and misuse His existence and teaching for their own purposes. I don't pretend to know the answers. At times I'm quite sure i don't even understand what questions to answer. I do believe this however. If God exists, He is big enough to stand up to my questions, and He doesn't need my worship or service to meet any needs, else He would not be God. So ask away. Just be prepared to listen and hear when He speaks for it certainly will not be solely on your erms. A good write that piques the mind, heart and curiosity. never try to teach a pig to sing |

I often find myself sassily challenging God, only to back down when I am overwhelmed and begging for some positive intervention in a seemingly hopeless situation. But I can't say I always agree with the outcome, and usually turn right around and challenge the concept of God all over again. *sigh* But the answers, for me, always come from opening my mind to the overwhelming diversity of life in the universe, something mere humans seem to attempt to control and limit. Toadstools, no doubt, serve some greater purpose we can only imagine. |
