Salvation, Doggie Style

He’s got to be standing on the armrest, the irritating little bastard,
so he can yap out the window of the SUV two stalls away.
Damn him, he’s drowning me out. Writing takes quiet waiting
until you can hear yourself stop being afraid to talk.
Most times there isn’t a voice in your head that dictates while
you scrawl to keep from losing it, just that transparent flow with
some of your words in it, some no one's. Ripples run you blind.
So it’s me against Yippo The Wolf-Hound Dominator Dog,
who’s going to fantasize until the owner, slightly taller,
comes back to displace him. It’s going to be a while;
I can see him talking to someone up the block.
Always the punky little pudgy ones who own these things;
I wonder if he wears heeltaps on his elevator shoes.
There’s a guy walking a Dane up the sidewalk; it stops,
looking slightly embarrassed, the way Danes always do.
The feeling’s justified this time: he’s Canis domesticus too.
Dogs can laugh, but it’s subtle; you have to look for it.
I can read your mind, Dane. C’mon, one bite. Ease us both.

Ed

Just no consideration for your need to write, poor guy!  But this was still fun to read, you bet, even through the subtle edge of sarcasm and anger.  And it got you to write something a bit different...!

This poem brought me tears.. of laughter...  from the title (which I cannot resist to say, ummmm... err.... caught my attention in a *wink* sort of way)...  Ahem, but to the poem...  from the title through the irritations in the poem, this was adorable!  Thanks for the smiles and delightful way of expressing the frustrations that our muses can so relate to!

Says who? LOL I don't keep a notebook beside my bed because I'm a poet... I simply take dictation! LOL But your way is definitely better... there are few poets I envy... your talent is without equal. *S*

I love this, my friend!!! LOL The title gave giggles, the poem filled me with empathy and understanding... and your images put me THERE... hoping for that one bite and blessed silence! LOL Excellent!!!
