Good morning, Sun.
It’s me again,
Waking up to the calm of
Eleven past ten.
My eyes hurt so much..
My fingers are numb.
The room’s a mess
With bottles of rum
Scattered on the floor,
And there’s more.
Socks and pants and
Scrunched-up pieces of paper.
I’ll clean it later.

I turn my head and face the window,
The bed creaks and squeaks.
I feel like [edited by moderator].
Had too much to drink,
I can barely blink.
Not even a wink.

I turn my head the other way.
My pillow stares at me.
And I stare at it back.

And then I smile.

My girlfriend used to be where that pillow is.
She’d wake up earlier than me to
Give me a kiss.
She’d watch me sleep and hold me close.
Good things come and go, I suppose.

I look at my pillow again.
I close my eyes and
Take a deep a breath.

I miss you, but this pillow will do...

...for now.

I fall asleep again.
