The Tiber

***

Placid River

***
I stand mesmerized

by the placid flow

of your essence.

Your soft murmur

leaps into my heart

slowing the cadence

of my life.

You show me

the constant motion

of all of creation.

And though together

we race through space,

I only feel

a tiny shift of air.

It’s the sweep of time

in which we dance.

My soul glides

into your tune

and you carry me

to faraway shores,

while I stand enthralled,

motionless yet soaring high,

becoming at once

the observer and the observed.

Lost in contemplation

of You, my placid river,

I AM.
***

Love, Margherita

Margherita, this was better than a Calgon bath ... taking me away to the land of tranquility.  I always enjoy the beauty and spirituality of your poetry.  Thanks for sharing this moment of peace.   ....jo

Thank you all my dear poet friends for your loving comments.

Huan dear, I don't THINK of Rome, I BREATHE it. This poem was inspired by a picture my son took  from the bank of the Tiber. It would have been nice to post HIS photograph, but it is not linked to internet, so I found a substitution which is quite similar.

Love and have all a wonderful Sunday.
