My Uncle is dying of cancer
and only has about a month
to live.Each time I visit
him I walk away feeling so
depressed at what I see.

This place is so depressing
It is filled with hollow eyes
Mouths agape as they lay sleeping
It looks as though they're catching flies

Old people shuffle down the hall
It's such a sad and sorry sight
They have the same destination
As they wait for heaven's flight

As I sit down here beside you
Within your own world you stray
I wonder if you really know me
As I think of what to say

Poison courses through your body
At such a very rapid rate
If only you heeded the warnings
But now it's too little, too late

Your mind is so confused
And you don't know which day or year
Your time is running out
For the end is drawing near

I hate to see you suffer
And I hope your pain won't last
Each moment spent with you is precious
In stone, your fate has been cast

You still have your sense of humour
And that helps to see you through
I don't look forward to your passing
It won't be the same without you
