The fold, dwindling slowly as sands
fall from the hourglass...as hearts cease
to murmur, yet love infinitely.

Shadows that fade with the dark that
smothers a golden sun, ceasing to
cover the grasses that strain to feel
warmth....caressing the cold earth
where they lie.

A laugh, remembered...though slowly
weakening, stirring a tear...as memories
rise with the moon, as eyes lift above
the shimmer of waters that trickle
from a once smooth boyish face...now
so much like their own...

Oh mirror, mirror of my reflect, when
must my shadow fade and green grasses
grow on emerald seas  as stillness covers
me.

Might I just join the fold once more,
that the sands might feel the war of toes
amongst the waves and laughter flush
the cheeks of children as castles melt
away....for my bucket is filled with
yesterdays smiles, waiting to wash away
the tears of this day...as the fold slowly
leaves me standing....not quite, just almost
alone...

I think that I shall just tuck this away in my library. Wonderful Magnus. hugs, Chris

Often the times that test us the most, bring with them the gentle comfort of good memories and a longing for the embrace of welcome and wanted.
You conveyed the mood very well Mag.

Smooth ending, I could almost feel the waves fold upon the shore to tuck the memories away…  Enjoyed this write..

God Barry, this was longing in the first degree...felt my own heart burning for that passion, that feeling of belonging...if only for a moment, and that opening paragraph, was stunning.
