They’re not the kind of thing you’re likely to find In Pittsburgh or Topeka Its in the coastal towns Where beaches run to rock, rather than sand Where they are built onto houses Perching on hills overlooking dark seas And those high balconies Aren’t the romantic notion some would believe The widows, when they paced at all Paced their solitude in darkened rooms Those narrow galleries, open to the elements And facing the water Were places only, for the near-widow And the widows in waiting [This message has been edited by wranx (05-23-2005 12:32 PM).] |

You paint a vivid image with your words. As I read it, I see the dark house perched on the rocks as the waves crash below. An interesting scene in black and white. Nicely done. |

You KNOW I'd like a series, but then, I find romance in architecture. (I'm sure we disussed this once or twice--I prefer wrought iron accents to cast iron--the wrought iron being particularly sexy--somethin' 'bout all that hammering. ) oooooh. Rennovate me bay-bay! (collapse my walls?) yeah, I went there. (Only cause I could.) (((((((((love me yeti))))))))))) |

Oh - love the view - the solitude, the mood - makes me think of Oregon - S If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |

The term "widow's walk" came up in some conversation just a few days ago - not a common term, nor anything topical in today's world of conversation, so you know I enjoyed this connection of thought very much... |

Ed You set the mood so well....a place that dreams are made of, yet actaully, kind of dark and sinister. You are an amazing writer. |

You always have painted the dark and unknown. Any ocean I can hear, makes me smile. But, what we don't know that lies beneath, you capture quite well. |

Learned about widow-walks and about your sensitive heart in this beautiful piece of poetry. Love, Margherita |
