Put it out to pasture
dig a deeper hole
tie yourself a tighter knot
toil takes it's toll

Picking pieces one by one
sliping sideways too!
breaking branches bit by bit
rest is up to you

Dig up dirt and break some rocks
bust a little sod
tear the top off tiny box
green peas in the pod

Sun is shining shamelessly
no shade left to hide
hoses hanging on the hooks
water flows like pride

Greet the garden's golden gaze
smell aromas sweet
break the sweat of solid days
growing bits to eat!

adagio

I liked this very much, adagio...
some play on words,
some handsome tweak,
and I heard growth
in this mid-of-week...

and ye thought I failed ye, huh?

You know I love gardens and garden metaphors...and having been blessed to taste of the fruit of your garden I can only humbly thank you.

You must try some of my purple berries
I been eating them for six or seven weeks now
Haven't got sick once
Probably keep us both alive

Thanks for the blackberries Ralph. Didn't need the sugar, as they were almost as sweet as you.

Loved this.

Great write... on the evening, when my hubby sat outside on hands and knees in his garden, in the dark planting last minute seeds before the long rain that is headed in.  Came in the house looking worse than the 4 kids ever have, with dirty feet, knees and elbows and look on his face that spoke of true happiness in his dirt garden after dark...

Thanks for this write.

I loved it !!

I may hate myself in the morning - but I'm gonna love you tonight
