Cold night taxi story

Late one dark night
in my yellow cab
mom and child got in
suspicious sight

did not ride far
bus stop near a bar
that cold starless night
with tensions tight

"Stop here" she said
"I will be right back"
stepped outside and paid
cut her some slack

bus was waiting
at that lonley stop
quickly she jumped in
felt my heart drop

child in back seat
asked me "where's my mom"
as the bus drove off
once more repeat

"Where is my mom"
what was I to say?
maybe he'll see her
one finer day

Abandonment-
cruelest of the cruel
what sort of a heart
made me her tool?

She had tricked me
with her evil game
how naive was I
to share her blame

How sad this is (if it is a true story)....I find it difficult to understand how anyone could abandon their child.  I'd like to know the rest of this story...what did you do?  Blessings to you for I'm sure you took good care to make sure the child was safe.  Perhaps the mother knew you would.

My hands were trembling just typing this in, even though it happened over seven years ago. To answer your question I brought him back to where I had picked him up, where his dad was waiting.( I notified my dispatcher who notified the police)I was so shaking and devisteted I could not finish my shift. (I was supposed to work till 6am.)The next day I started looking for another job.

This hurt so much, becausae I knew it
had to be true, even before I read the
question and the reply...

She saw a kind face...
and she ran from some hurt...

something, perhaps, that was just
in herself.

God bless you for taking charge.

LOL, seems as if you are a REAL sweetie, mister adagio, and not a cybermask.
Thank you, for your moment of kindness and smart thinking which will probably be returned to you down the road, by someone you don't even know yet.
That's the best karma, 'lovie'
as our Serenity might say.
Happy to have had the pleasure of meeting your poetic heart here in the blue.

Sounds like she was escaping her husband and knew you would take care of the boy. Taking him with her would keep her husband in the dark about her intent to run away.
Heartbreaking story.
Serenity, another book in the making.I also would like to know the "rest of the story" on her end. You did the right thing.

Perhaps the child was left with you because you were the right person in the right place at the right time. I do believe there is a rhyme and a reason for everything.

I can well-imagine how this must have affected you! You unwittingly were forced to play a part in a very traumatic event.

I did not get to finish "The rest of the story" last night on this library computer because they only allow a set amount of time here. I know this was not my best work but it was something I had to get off my chest because it's been eating at me for years. It felt truly to me like I was used. I did my best not to show that little boy how shaken I really was. That may have made it worse. When I first picked him up I could feel the tension thick in the air. I knew something was very wrong, That is why for a long time I felt some blame in this. When the police met me and the dad they had surprizingly few questions for me . I guess they figured it out.

maybe used, and then to, maybe planted by a higher power?  Your compassion shows...and you did your best.

latearrival? My friends Ralph (adagio) and Leah are indeed a book unto themselves, but it will be up to THEM to write it.

Stay tuned. adagio has lotsa stories.

Must be something in the water down here.

Great job with this again, R.

Angels from Heaven collaborate with Angels from this plane to help in critical situations. You were chosen for this task, for your compassionate heart.

An impressive story, very well rendered!

Love, Margherita
