Whippoorwills calling outside all night
then driving to work, the sun's so bright
I think I'll go blind

Then my allergies start kicking in
sweat constantly, got sticky skin
car wont stay cool half the time

Some days you'll get teased with a breeze
cant wash my truck for gettin stung by bees
insects and snakes start coming back again

Then come sunburns, you turn really red
and dont forget the mosquitoes nippin at your head
and ticks and chiggers can get under your skin

Then you have to make sure to mow the yard
before the grass gets too high to see the cars
and keep in mind the chance of severe weather

Summer aint such a beautiful time
at least not in this person's mind
but I guess we all have to suffer together

LOL!!! I just can't help it...you describe it so perfectly that it made me laugh...I love summer with all its pitfalls it is still a romantic time of year...I really liked reading this poem...

Yup I hear ya. We wait and wait for summer,
then suddenly we remember all the things that go along with it.
Still...
I'll take it over this cold spring we're having up here.

Great work, loved it!

You too must live in the south.
But despite all of those sufferable things there is: the great fresh home grown tomatoes! Zuccini, and HOT peppers YUM!
Makes it all worth while.

Thanks to everybody who replied. And yes, I do live in the south....the summers are kinda nasty here...but it's all good I guess
