The Charming Garden In a quiet little neighborhood Somewhere safe and pretty, kind and good Came the prettiest birds I ever did see Flew in to eat thistle, singing merrily. Safe and away from dogs and cats, Instinct says, “this is where it’s at,” And though they are brilliant against blue skies, We hope they will rest before they fly! And sing they do, their breakfast song ~ Though they won’t stay near very long ~ Presenting us beauty for the price of seed Offering comfort that is like a need. To know that our cherished friends in flight Find a charming garden, come break of light. |

I heard a woman the other day, complaining about the birds waking her up in the morning...I said, wull, get up before them and have coffee with them? She looked at me dumbfounded? Hugs for this very lovely view.... |

We have two kinds of finch here, gold and purple....I never knew that after more than two decades of living here. Some odd-colored sparrows maybe, and occasionally a flash of yellow in a tree, but that's all. Then on an impulse we bought a bag feeder full of thistle seed, and after a few days saw a purple finch on it....then two.... Now three feeders, and our record is fifteen pink and yellow birds hanging like Christmas ornaments -- they feed upside-down, something else I never knew, and the finch feeder's openings are actually under the perches, to discourage other kinds of bird. I just looked -- it's only 6 am, but there are three of 'em out there already..... ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

I've yet to find finches at my thistle feeder, but think it is my location. It is nice to read your safe and cheery poem early in the morning; it lifts the day. Well said. KJ Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

Awwww....I love birds !! We have a robin nesting in the beams of our back deck. I took a peek when she was away, and there are four, perfect, blue eggs cuddled together! Thankyou for this Karilea. hugs, Chrislane |

Sissie We have many birds around here, as you know...but I hesitate to get a feeder because of the cat. How lovely it would be to see the birds in that way. Loved your poem! |

Nice little lunchbreak here! Seems like it has been so busy at work! Yesterday, I felt the need to go somewhere to hear those birds; it was delightful, as was your poem, reminding me of my excursion to the park. Thank you, Sunshine, for making my day. Think I'll close after reading only one... It leaves me in such a good mood. miscellanea |
