from the south
a whining dog
and further still, a shadow

oh plague, my plague
be still tonight

call off the bees
that stir behind these marbled eyes

                              sleep
or allow me mine

My God, this reminded me of reading Kahlil
because one part of his prose he mentions bugs crawling
(beetles)in his brain and somehow
the marbles sparked that thought.

Breath escapes
an angels slumber.

The only promise
of perfection,
my sleeping child -
mimicking each
tick tock
of my heart
beat
my
head
against these walls

as another car drones by . . .

By sleep you mean that thing where...err. No. Hmm... I forget. What is sleep again? *sigh*

4:53 AM here... maybe tomorrow night, though. Oh well.

Love reading you, mister. Hugs...

Time to establish
a pact with the stars ...
they will sprinkle
their golden dust
over your eyes
and bring peace ...
if you pay them
due attention
... by counting them.

They work better than the sheep I promise!

You always capture an atmosphere so
masterfully, dear Raffaele.

I hearya! ~ and you scribed it perfectly!

On nights like that, I just get out of bed and start my next day very early! ~ at 3 or 4 AM!

I don't mind the sound of a lone wolf in the distance, but those noisy bees buzz the heck outta me!

Perhaps when you and I go to bed tonight (oh, that didn't come out right! lol) we should count some woolly sheep!

I'm still trying to work out exactly what sleep is and how it works for us but whatever, we are all entitled to some.  Excellent read!

Try day sleeping!  Working nights brings sleepers, lawn mowers and kids frolicking in back yard pools. Worse, power saws grinding trees and shrubs. Dogs and cats bellow cries of fright and flight. Spouses barking, forget the dogs this is worse, as they forget voices carry in the wind.
Cars and pick up trucks with boom boxes turned up high enough to rattle windows. And all this in a suburb! Listen to kitchen noises as family snack and laugh, television turned to cartoons. Computers playing games. This is day time life as the third shifters hear it. Oh, to wake up and go to work to find quiet and alone time.
