Relax

Did you ever notice how simple little things
can piss you off when you're trying to relax
and have some fun.
For example, you arrive at the theatre thirty
minutes early and you think that you will have
plenty of time, but as you approach you see
a ten mile line and you notice that out of four
cashier windows, only one is opened and selling
tickets, and by now you're down to five minutes
before the movie begins, and when you finally
get in, you have to go to the bathroom and
there's a line again, plus some little boys
have failed to lift the lid and have peed all
over the toilet seat and the bathroom stinks.
Finally inside and looking for a nice place
to sit and the moron behind where you want to
sit has his or her feet on the back of your seat.
Finally you sit down and begin to relax, and
right about then some cell phones go off in the back.

I hearya!

Whenever I am in a situation that starts to raise my blood pressure, I get in touch with my breathing to calm me down. I imagine I am breathing in wellness, peace and serenity and exhaling all stress and negativity. I take long deep breaths both in and out and not only does the rhythmic cadence calm me down, I am increasing the oxygen to my brain and I am able to think more clearly. The "simple little things" get put in proper perspective. I appreciate the fact, for example, that I have the opportunity to go to the movies.

That way I don't get my panties in a knot, and I stay calm, cool and collected. This technique works wonders in so many situations that can try one's patience. i.e. in a traffic jam!

I am rather long-winded in my response to your frustrations, but it just reminded me of how I used to be. Patience and mindful breathing have truly improved the quality of my life. Breathe in ~ breathe out ~ and relax!

Loving hugs,
Linda
