I wept for him today he, with black veins and little hope he, a nervous man in constant wonder and why God’s creature tipping darkness and wilting I've never questioned why such a disease exists and why it causes so much pain to life I always figured 'they' would ask And never be given the right answers but today, I found my palms humbled -- when I looked at my hands with no fear and my fingers with tears I wonder what he thinks about? do he look at the sky in doubt? does he worry about the delicate things? will his end bend ceiling and wall I am not sure why I ask this: maybe I too am looking for the answer and cure--knowing There was silence in the room I feel guilty for this moment the rain passed and the sky returned to blue I see him daily standing in the window I see his face and wonder when his last breath will be & will I know, when I take my long walks that end by his house today I wept for him because, I too, don’t understand the midst of this wreckage I don’t mind spending everyday Out on your corner in the pouring rain Look for the girl with the broken smile Ask her if she wants to stay awhile [This message has been edited by Greeneyes (05-04-2005 06:49 PM).] |

Oh my, you write with such bold compassion. Most, I think, would pass him by every day and hardly notice. This screams of heart and humility, and, of course, a great poet. Awesome work. Always, Alyssa He was a man of sorrows |

I always figured 'they' would ask And never be given the right answers but today, I found my palms humbled -- when I looked at my hands with no fear and my fingers with tears This speaks to me on so many levels, and I so admire your tender heart. Thank you for sharing your poetic grace, Lady Lauren~ |

Oh, Lauren . . . I understand all to well your own confusion. I have the same thoughts myself and I am sorry you have them, too. I have missed your words. |
