On a twelve car train, The Porter wakes passengers Telling them engine-April It is pulling into station, To hook up to a Pullman, Named the month of May. With a pant and a wheeze; The boiler tank fills, Building pressure As it lets off the steam Of last winters passengers. In a field nearby the depot: Cold rain mixes with snow, Chilling the bones Of a man on a tractor, Pulling plows, Setting tables For half-frozen robins. |

And the chugging resumes... even attempting the uphill run. You're such a joy to read, Sir. Thank you. |

this finds spring, arms folded in front of her, singing, I know I can, I know I can... It's cloudy and cool here in these them parts of PA, hope this won't be an instant replay of last summer? Thank you Ford, a very creative way to look at nature |

A picture is worth a thousand words, and/or vice versa. Your poetry is superb, and your style unsurpassed. Very much enjoyed, ford~ |

Ford, I had to read this again, and say, the rain quit early in the day then the temp suddenly soared to 72F! Listening to the baby bluebirds in a nest on the neighbors covered porch. Dang, I love what spring can bring! |

Thank you friends...... ![]() I appreciate your comments.... When May comes, I usually can put away the long-johns...but not this year.....The last week has been miserable. Had a fire in my woodstove every morning, stnow, cold rain, and hail has come in blasts between short periods of weak sunshine.... This weekend looks good though, perhaps it is the end of "half frozen robin" season? again, Thank You ----------ice/ford |

I enjoy the unique way you have of painting vivid vignettes that remain in my mind long after I have read one of your fine poems. ~ May Spring soon wrap you in a warm, sunny blanket of wildflowers. ![]() Linda |

Not to mention certain reefers and the threat of hotboxes under those summer cars. Enjoyed! |

Wonderful imagery...I very much enjoyed this. "Poets are all who love, who feel great truths, and tell them; and the truth of truths is love." --Philip James Bailey |
