The clouds hang low in Swaziland
and I gaze as one amazed
at perfection redefined
calling me to rise
above the many wiles
of this fateful life.

In a hill encircled valley
in that land called Swaziland
cattle graze on tarmac roads
like love seeking sustenance
amidst unyielding views.

Goats frolic on the sidelines
and what do people do
but amble nonchalantly
away from safety measures
designed to protect
and treasure naturally
the gift of compassion.

The rich and poor entwine,
faun and flora still survive,
but amidst the seeming peacefulness
restless needs abide
and they permeate the air
in that land called Swaziland.

But the heart of Swaziland
is large and all embracing
like its king with many wives
and fiancés on the side.

Across the border, home,
and another memory
lies above mementos
of a better time and place!

That is an amazing image!

I wanted to find something here to distract and to start my day right.  I did.  Thank you!!!

Helen, your personalized snapshot of Swaziland is a very rare treat. I love the imagery, the way you portrayed the deep feelings of connectedness with the land and inhabitants. Thank you for sharing this!

Dixie - thank you so much for always reading.

icebox -   well, they do, you know, graze on the road but I have no idea what they find to eat.  Certainly a traffic hazard but one gets used to things like that in Africa.

Midnitesun - thank you for the read.  Connectedness like feelings can be trying at times because we can't offer any proof of same.
