We are each small cities
and our sidewalks are such vast lakes

full of this heavy spring
where we have lost so much
where we have held a round and
aching sadness in our centers;

we asked (kind and holy)
for something honest

and have learned rain.

Alicia

"we asked (kind and holy)
for something honest

and have learned rain."

Pondering and lovely, you are!

The title to the end, you reach to the heart...

"what comes"  "and have learned rain."

As if to taste the tears, this poem finds a deep reflection.

every time i read you... i realize how much i've missed reading you.

i think this goes up toward the top of my "A" fave's; historical and succinct, yet carried across in an atonal melancholy that still hints at... oh yeah, summer.

egowhores.com - really love yourself.

You speak me dear lady.
Finally, someone on here that truly
understands.
