A Walk on the Pier

on the horizon
molten sun sinks below
pink edged clouds

fishermen cast
into storm shaken seas -
hungry gulls wait

Listen!
above the gulls cry,
helicopter thrum

seagulls dip and wheel
below gathering clouds -
smell of fresh fish

From out of the storm,
police helicopter
and a plane

Flock of gulls
rises with his serenade -
Spanish guitar

down on the beach -
violin sings harmony
with crashing waves

Suddenly the rain
dances with the pounding surf-
we turn toward home.

Beki

I have witnessed such a sunset on the Santa Monica pier.  Your wonderful imagery took me there again...thank you!

Folks, you've been to Newport. This poem is a walk down that pier. Nicely done, Beki!
