The Forest of Time

When I was a little boy
I lived in Kentucky with
my Grandma, in a beautiful
two story house with an
enchanted full basement.
We were right across
from the Kentucky Derby
and we could watch part
of the races from the
spacious roof.
Directly behind my Grandma's
house were her world famous
concord grape vines, and a
long alley that seemed
to have no end.
One day my brothers and two
other neighborhood boys
took an alley walk.
As we walked down the alley
that seemed to go on forever,
we noticed that it was changing
from a residential alley into
a meadow, and finally as we
walked on, a dark forest.
Something told me and my
brothers not to go into those
woods, but the two brave
neighbor boys ventured in.
We waited about two hours for
their return, but they didn't.
There was a police and concerned
citizens search for two weeks
but they were not found.
Two years later me and my brothers
walked down the same alley, passed
the same meadows, and as we approached
the dark forest we spotted our two
missing friends walking towards us.
They were wearing the same clothes
they had worn two years previous.
The clothes still fit perfectly although
they had grown a bit.
We renewed old aquaintences and when
we ask them where they had been, they
replied, "We took a walk in the woods."
Their mother was overjoyed,
to regain her little boys.

very pleasant read. however, it is prosaic and is no more than a paragraph with line breaks.

Thank you Adagio, Nightshade, manju, passing shadows, Lee J. and Enchantress for the nice responses...
Enchantress, lots of this is true...some of it is fantasy...I did live in Kentucky next to Churchill Downs and their was a long alley behind my Grandma's house...And me and my brothers and friends took lots of trips down that alley...well thats enough...James
