Among shy green the Redbuds spot the woods,
and I wonder why Spring teases me with her little riddle of rain.
I've waited patiently to see the of birthing Spring,
And here...in wetness I complain!

But drop upon dribble, I find answer to riddle;
The bark is painted black,
a greater contrast to each petal and leaf,
Freshly washed and waxed!
Vibrancy with the rain.

This near-paradise I live in lacks three flowers, and I miss them all at this time of year: Forsythia, Dogwood, Redbud.

Thanks for a little trip back to something good.

jwesley and Ratleader,
Absolutely beautiful here!  The Forsythia are almost gone and the springing of Redbud and Dogwog have stolen the spotlight for a few days until the lilac steps center stage!

Glad to you stopped by.

Oh, but the colors after the rain and the fragrance too ... how they increase!

I took this in and breathed deeply.

So beautiful.

As I read this I can smell the rain coming in and I can see a single raindrop cut its path along a red bud petal. Wonderfully done

Very well worded. Now if only the cold wind and freeze will end. I've delayed in planting way to long. Nice write.

Spent the last week weeding out the gardens... in the rain! Beautiful season but it sure is a lot of work! I'd say it's worth it, though.

Great to read you again, I so miss being able to read all the poetry here. Hope things are going well for you...

Always, Alyssa
