“Where,” he asks “was the parade that jingo jackals produce? The kind reviewed from the balustrade by mortals who think they’re Zeus?” “Why do we wear only scars as medals of our ramparts? Where were the magnets on the cars from China and Wal-mart?” Well my friend, the difference then was that we still had a voice, and knew no trust for greedy men who declared we had no choice The Press was free and there to tell all the rape and pillage and we saw where the napalm fell, on the primitive village Where’ve you been my sour friend these past thirty years? Have you addressed the greedy men or just cried in your beers? The babble is a cancer like that poison from the South and Orwell had the answer for that trash chaw in your mouth We war for peace, we spend to save and death’s now sent from heaven, your spit, we’re told, looked mighty brave on a woman of sixty-seven We’re now told you’re a hero for the vulgar act you’ve done, in truth you’re less than zero, why else would you have run? . . . . . . . . http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/local/11457020.htm |

RSWells Nice to see you back. "We war for peace, we spend to save and death’s now sent from heaven," I like the way you write. |

excellent write, it's sad that so many vets harbour that kind of resentment towards fonda rather than the deserving targets, those that exploited and sent them to hell in the first place |

I was not surprised at this, having had someone spit at me for marching against the Nam war years ago, and I never did half what Jane did. I met Jane Fonda at a rally, and was impressed by her grasp of political reality, her willingness to do whatever it took to end that war. But I also knew that Hanoi Jane photo incident was a serious faux pas on her part. Spit? Disgusting as it is, I'm sure she has been expecting that and more. Good to read you again, Richard |
