This Relationship



This relationship is wrong

I don’t want it any more.

I can live with that decision

Until.....

The day comes to an end

And I haven’t heard from you.



Even as I tell myself

It really doesn’t matter,

A large part of me

Is waiting…..

For the telephone to ring.



And if it’s you

On the other end.

I am content,

To go about my day.



But… When you are not there,

A shadow slowly passes

And puts my heart to sleep,

With a shiver that creeps

Into my soul.



I tell myself that I can let it end,

That I’m not waiting for your call.

Until,the hours slip past,

And I haven’t heard your voice,

And the loneliness begins.



I think so many thoughts,

Make resolutions to amend,

And bring this situation to an end.

Until night begins to fall,

And I haven’t had a call.



It is then I know I love you

And need you in my life.

But I must remember

That you still have a wife.
