Rainer Sits My Shadow Rainer sits my shadow holding tender my thoughts in his indescribable poet’s hands. I did not know him at first, though, luckily, a fellow poet introduced us, and through the introduction, he visits me now, often, so I asked his ghost to converse, in an easy sort of way, of what was, and perhaps, what will be. He sat, silently, almost broodingly, his hooded brows over dark eyes, his blood conveying silent thoughts that only my Quill could hear… and then Quill spilled, like tears, Rainer’s psyche into my soul… Of all that has always been, inside my mind that aches to be released, the knowledge that what lines unleashed are never enough, that a poet never says, this is adequate, but reaches once again for the unsayable to find a way to verse it just so… that a poet experiments with all feelings, in all writings, in all ways with every breath… and he transmits that a poet does not, no, never does he, no, not once stop writing, for to do so, would be to give up on light, and feathers, it would be to quit believing in awe-inspirational shadows that speak to poets in the quiet through their quill to their soul or that shadows believe in the unsayable. ~*~ A repost, yes, for a woman who reminds me, often, that the lives we lead will ripple into someone's future... with serenity. |

"the knowledge that what lines unleashed are never enough,..." "that a poet never says, this is adequate," That's it, that is the sum of it... For these reasons, I write poetry... Becuase verse is never truely finished, and that subjects brought to life by language add continuity to my own. Well done, Karilea I enjoyed the whole poem, but the lines quoted came from the most profound stanzas, (IMO) ----------ice/ford ><> |

Your yesses are smiling, Chris... and ice? This particular poem is a favorite of mine, as it sits in Reflections among so many favored poets...and because Rainer hit a chord within me when I was introduced to him, and doesn't seem to want to leave me. I don't mind...sometimes I even imagine I hear his voice, and there's no way [that most would believe] that I could have ever known his voice... I'm glad you enjoyed. Thank you! |
