The Making of an Honest Man Pitter-patter went the rain drops Against the panes of memories and dreams Dancing to the rhythm of my sighing heart. My nights are often filled with candles, thoughts and storms As my soul bids my pen to sing of love and pain; I find a certain comfort in the darkness, Because the light of the day sometimes misleads When tears are spilled under the glow of the moon--- Fluorescent is the truth written underneath closed eyes. I see it all now, images under the distant light of stars--- Her smile is to the west, Her walk is scattered in the east, And her kisses are felt in the air of the evening dew. I want to accept the trust of this loving woman, But the past aches my heart to sadness, How often can I ask myself for forgiveness? I have seen such beauty and sweetness in many flowers Only to be made a fool over and over again; Yet, it has been made obvious in my trial and errors That the sun eventually stops pitying the ageless And God still adores the selfless and the humble; There is one question I would ask of past lovers--- “Can the soul of one woman be so rare, As to finally make me an honest man? It semm that we who "find comfort in the darkness " are in the minority. adagio |
