I stand alone on a thundering shore, cold spray washes over my face and my tears are the sea’s tears but I find no solace here, and there is no answer. The wind will blow wherever it wills; the sea will crash eternally upon her shores; and the black stones will stand, mute sentinels to the passages of time and the ravages of ignorance. The body of a grebe floats among the wreckage at my feet: I should consider it fortunate it isn’t the body of a human child, not today... not yet. But is there a difference? A beautiful bird dies of poison, a gentle child of hunger, thousands upon thousands all in one day – just one day. Now I realize there is an answer, or at least a statement: The sea is aware. She knows. As does all that has died. Only man still fails to see; to see his hand in the blood. Is this world doomed to utter destruction? Or will the one who can alter fate, will “man” awaken from soullessness and learn how to feel? |

This is an interesting piece that has undertones of many things, we have the oil slicks and how they kill wildlife, the tsnuami and of course the ever perpetual threat of war. I like how it ties towards that at the end, despite the rather bland opening. It gets very solid towards the end and was a good slice of work. |

It is rather miraculous how we so effect one another, without some form of balance, there will be no more...and I liked the way you illustrated the grebe...which is a fowl from the North, the message rang out loud and clear...wonderfully written |

The insights you bring forth in your works enhance the mind of the dreamer. Wonderful images...hope you will let the emotions flow, for the feeling of the read is the subject it depicts...the sea. TD |

WindWalker, you weren't really standing alone though. I was there with you, seeing much the same scene. About the only difference was the type of bird, as I usually see the albatross afloat, alongside a grey whale, a dolphin, and a human heart. |
